Jim teaches fun, lighthearted classes for both beginners and experienced practitioners, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. His approach centers around “Practical Yoga,” blending physical and mental discipline to deliver real-world results—even in less-than-perfect bodies and minds.

He began his yoga journey in the spring of 2000 after stumbling into a class at his gym. Since then, he has completed over 500 hours of teacher training and has taught between 6,500 and 7,000 classes, workshops, and teacher training modules.

With a background in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, he emphasizes alignment and offers clear, concise cueing. As a member of the baby boomer generation living with arthritis in all major joints, he brings a deeply personal understanding to his teaching—skillfully modifying and adapting poses to support students navigating injury or physical limitations. He believes that while injury and disease can be challenging, they are also powerful teachers.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Journalism with a minor in Physics, as well as an MBA. He has been a full-time yoga teacher since 2013. Prior to that, his career spanned early-stage venture capital investing, manufacturing consulting, online video media, and the sale of nonlinear and electro-optic components to the laser industry, research institutions, and national laboratories.
