Aimee discovered yoga in college and felt there was something meaningful there, even though she set it aside for a time. A few years later, she returned to yoga through VHS tapes — and Steve Ross’ Inhale with Steve Ross made her fall in love with the practice. She still enjoys practicing with his recorded classes today.
Aimee practiced as a student for 20 years before completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, later earning her 500-hour certification. Meditation came next and became a true game changer for her. Both yoga and meditation have given her a deep sense of home — a gift she is passionate about sharing with others.
She opened her first yoga studio in January 2018 and, after closing during Covid, continued teaching, studying, and practicing daily. Teaching Yoga Teacher Training is one of her greatest passions. In addition to teaching yoga, Aimee is college faculty in psychology and sociology and works as a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Aimee is a mom to four kids and has three dogs and a cat. She loves the beautiful chaos of life, but also deeply values the quiet retreat of her mat and time spent in the woods. Her personal practice has evolved over the years from very powerful to slow and steady, and her classes reflect that — starting and ending slowly, building heat in the middle, and always set with low lighting, good scents, and a great playlist.
What's the best advice someone has ever given you?
Let go…
What are you most grateful for?
Gratefulness does not come easy for me- I have to work at it as a practice. That muscle isn't my default way of being. Contentment yes, grateful, that's harder for my sometimes cynical personality. But I would say, I'm grateful for finding yoga and meditation- they have changed the whole game of life for me. I get to leave and check out but also gain presence at the same time- what a gift!
What is a quote you live by or what is your favorite quote?
Love everyone and tell the truth (Ram Dass by way of Maharajji)
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"You can take a breath now."
